Sparking Recruitment

It’s an incentive to serve your community.

The Fireman’s Association of the State of New York wants to ignite recruitment in its volunteer fire companies.

FASNY will reimburse the cost of your Associates degree for enrolling in one of its volunteer fire companies.

It hopes to get 15,000 new volunteers to join the ranks.

Students will be reimbursed for up to 80 credit hours at any community college in the Empire State.

It doesn’t matter what you major in, but you must be a volunteer firefighter while you’re in college and up to 4 years after you complete your courses.

The deadline to apply for the Spring Semester is next Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

FASNY first offered the grant program in the fall semester.

About 100 students signed up.

FASNY Help is made available through a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant by the US Department of Homeland Security.
