In Memoriam: Past President Carl A. Veltri (1930 – 2016)

FASNY Past President (1986-1988) Carl A. Veltri, 86, of Greece passed away suddenly Sunday, October 16, 2016.

Carl was a member of the FASNY Board of Directors from 1974 to 1982. He served as FASNY Second and First Vice President before becoming President in 1986.

His involvement in numerous firematic organizations included the Western New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association and the Monroe County Firemen’s Association. He was a district Commissioner, department President, and fire district Assistant Treasurer.

Carl was a member of the Barnard Fire Department since 1959 and served as Commissioner.

He owned Veltri Shoe Service in Greece for more than 50 years and worked as a bus driver for Greece Schools.

Carl was predeceased by wife, Harriet. He is survived by sister Rose Meyers; children Cindy (Don Bleier), Linda (Tim) McTammany and Dan (Ron Acosta); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
