Young Firefighters from Across New York to Train in Wynantskill

WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Young firefighters will gather Friday morning to get hands-on experience with veteran firefighters.

They will practice search and rescue drills, hose advancement, and fire pump and drafting operations at the Rensselaer County Fire Training Center on Macha Lane in Wynantskill.

This is the seventh year of Youth Day, which showcases the future of New York’s fire service, and highlights the need for more young people to join their local volunteer fire departments.

Youth Day is just one of the activities during the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) annual convention. Volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel from across the state are visiting the Capital Region.

Founded in 1872, FASNY represents the interests of the more than 92,000 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel in New York State.
