Turn Back The Clocks, Check Smoke Alarms

When you turn back your clocks, check your smoke alarms.

Daylight Saving Time ends early Sunday, when people should turn their clocks back one hour.

The American Red Cross, as well as The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York say this weekend is a good time to make sure smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working condition.

“It’s important to make sure that the smoke alarms are in good working order, Jane Gendron with the Executive Director of the North Country chapter of the American Red Cross said.

That means making sure there is no debris blocking alarms. The group says older alarms that have removable batteries should receive a fresh set. Newer smoke alarms with sealed-in, 10-year batteries should still be tested and inspected regularly.
