McQueen have announced the name of a local recipient of the FASNY Gerard J. Buckenmeyer Volunteer Scholarship – Kimberly L. Reeves of North Tonawanda, NY. On June 9, FASNY Board Member Edward Tase, Jr. presented the award to Kimberly at North Tonawanda High School. Kimberly received a certificate as well as a check for $1,000 for her volunteer service in the community.

Kimberly was one of 10 students chosen for this scholarship. A total of 130 students throughout the state applied for this scholarship, which was the highest number ever submitted in the history of this award.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an applicant’s volunteer service to his or her community (e.g., community projects, fire department, scouting, church, school, work with senior citizens, fire prevention projects, 4-H, etc.) and the proof of his or her character (e.g., community citizenship, dependability, etc.)
