Penfield firefighters replace batteries in area homes

As we prepare to set our clocks ahead an hour Saturday night, the Penfield Fire Department is reminding residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors…

The message comes in the wake of January’s deadly mobile home fire that claimed the lives of three people, including 9-year-old Tyler Doohan. On Saturday, firefighters replaced batteries and installed new smoke detectors in homes across the area in memory of Doohan, who died while trying to rescue family members from the early morning fire. All the smoke detectors were donations from Senator Ted O’Brien’s office.
