NY volunteer fire departments aim to bring in more volunteers

Several local fire departments were sounding the alarm for more volunteers Tuesday.
The seventh Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) annual recruitment campaign kicked off at the Chili Fire Department in the morning.
Volunteer fire departments across the state will open their doors to the community this coming weekend to educate the public about what it takes to become a volunteer.
“There’s a job for everyone in the fire service,” said FASNY trustee Alan Way. “Whether they come on as an actual firefighter, or behind the scenes as fire police, or administration. There’s always a job, whether they’re 20 years old or 50 or 60 years old, there’s a job for somebody in the fire department.”
