New York fire officials give grilling safety reminders

The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York reminded property owners to observe grilling safety this outdoor cookout season. Barbecue grills must be placed on a flat surface that cannot catch fire, away from children and not on a porch, balcony or garage, FASNY officials said. Propane grills must be shut off after use at all times to prevent fire hazards, according to FASNY.
