Moyers Corners Fire Department Youth Group Earns FASNY Award

The Moyers Corners Explore Post 209 was awarded the 2015 Youth Group of the Year award from the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York.

FASNY gives out the award to a fire department’s youth group that exemplifies commitment to its volunteer fire department and community.

“Moyers Corners was chosen from dozens of applicants for their steadfast dedication to firefighter training and their exemplary service to the community,” according to FASNY.

Members of the Explorer Post are junior firefighters who spend hundreds of hours a year assisting on a wide range of community efforts.

The FASNY Youth Group of the Year award is given to groups that demonstrate dedication to their volunteer fire department and community through fire service-related projects, training, and community service; and exhibit qualities of honor, teamwork, and allegiance to the volunteer fire service.
