More Than 300 firefighters Compete In Winter Games
Cortland, NY — More than 300 firefighters, dressed in full turnout gear, from 32 fire departments across the state competed today in a variety of winter games.
The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) kicked off its Firefighter Winter Games on Friday in Cortland. The event is co-sponsored by the Cortland County Firemen’s Association.
Today’s events included tube racing, a sled pull, hose rely and tug of war.
The games allow for departments to engage in friendly competition and spend time honing important training skills.
The winter games continue Sunday with a broomball tournament at Park Center Alumni Ice Arena at the State University of New York at Cortland. The broomball tournament will take place from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the arena.
