Local Firemen Give Tips Ahead of 4th of July

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Ahead of this Independence Day weekend the Fireman’s Association of New York wants all of us to stay safe and leave the fireworks to the professionals.

Although some may be legal to buy and use, the firemen want to remind everyone that they do pose a real danger, too.

Just recently FASNY was pointed to a recent house fire in Washington County that was caused by the legalized fireworks.

The tip of a sparkler burns at a temperature of more than 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hot enough to cause third-degree burns.

Authorities have released a map for the Fourth of July at the Plaza that they are using this year to help people navigate and let people know that there will be no seating on the museum stairs this year and to please bring a chair.

The new configuration for Plaza access and changed street closures are on the map.
