LIVERPOOL TO HOST THIS YEAR’S STATE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS’ CONVENTION AUGUST 14-17
(SYRACUSE, NY) The 140th Annual Firemen’s Association of the State of NY (FASNY) Convention will draw an estimated total of 1,000 volunteer firefighters, EMS personnel and their families from around the state to Liverpool, NY. The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn, at 441 Electronics Parkway from Tuesday, August 14th to Friday, August 17th. FASNY’s Ladies Auxiliary will also meet that week at the Holiday Inn. This represents the first time that both groups return to Liverpool since 2006.
The four-day conference, which will be hosted by the Onondaga County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention Committee, will include programs such as FASNY’s Fourth Annual Youth Day, fire safety seminars, a memorial service for those we have lost, installation of new FASNY officers, and awards and honors for the Firefighter and EMS Provider of the Year.
“The FASNY Convention is one of the most important events of the year for our volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel,” said FASNY President David Jacobowitz. “The participants get the opportunity to exchange ideas, participate in important training programs, and learn new safety approaches through educational seminars, all of which help to further improve the fire service, so that we can, in turn, better protect the residents of New York.”
According to the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau, the FASNY Convention is expected to generate approximately $1 million in economic activity for the Liverpool area. The figure is based on the number of anticipated participants and spending on accommodations, food, recreational activities, as well as other factors.
