Members of the East Amherst Volunteer Fire Department will be among the 300 firefighters from across New York State competing this weekend in the Firefighter Winter Games in Cortland.
The games allow firefighters to hone their training skills while competing in a series of events dressed in full gear. The games are sponsored by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York.
This week:
• The Amherst Town Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Council Chambers of the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. A work session is scheduled for 3 p.m.
• The Amherst Veterans Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Amherst Municipal Building.
• The Williamsville Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the district office board room, 105 Casey Rd., East Amherst. In addition to its regular meeting, the board will hold a second public hearing on the veterans’ property tax exemption at 8 p.m. and a work session and public forum on the 2015-16 budget at 8:30 p.m. The meeting agenda includes an hour-long executive session that is closed to the public to discuss unspecified personnel and legal matters from 6 to 7 p.m.
• The Amherst Recreation Commission will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive.
-• The Senior Services Advisory Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 370 John James Audubon Parkway.
• The Citizens’ Financial Advisory Committee will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Amherst Municipal Building.
