KENNETH PIENKOWSKI ELECTED AS 2nd VICE PRESIDENT OF FASNY

On August 17, Kenneth Pienkowski, of the Taunton Volunteer Fire Department in Onondaga County, was elected 2nd Vice President of the Firemen’s Association of the State of N.Y. (FASNY), at its 140th Annual Convention at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool, NY.   He was first elected to FASNY’s Board of Directors in 2006 and re-elected in 2011.

 

He is a 44-year veteran firefighter and past fire chief, who stresses the values of leadership, training, and skills on the fire ground.

 

“In my tenure, I will continue to work for the benefit of the members of FASNY and the volunteer emergency services,” said Pienkowski. “Whether it be training and education; legislation; or recruitment and retention of the volunteer emergency responders, we’ll constantly work to better the fire service and serve the citizens of New York state today and in the future.”

 

Ken is an alumnus of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland; past President of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (2002-’03); and past director and key committee member of the Eastern Division of the International Fire Association of Fire Chiefs (2003-’07).

 

He is a twice-serving fire chief and past President of his hometown Fire Department, as well as Past President of the Onondaga County Volunteer Firemen’s Association and the County Fire Chiefs Association. Ken also served on various committees within the Central and Northern Central Volunteer Firemen’s Associations, before being elected to the Board of Directors of FASNY in 2006. Within FASNY, he has served on many committees as well, including strategic planning and the Fire Chiefs Committee.

 

Ken is a retired member of the United Auto Workers Union. Since retirement, Ken has been an insurance professional, while continuing his involvement in community affairs. In his private life, he has been happily married to his wife Barbara since 1979. They have two children, James and Jennifer.
