Firefighters’ Winter Games to be held this weekend in Cortland County

Cortland, NY — The annual Firefighter Winter Games will be this weekend in Cortland County, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York announced today.

More than 200 firefighters from around the state will compete Saturday at the Greek Peak Ski Resort in Virgil and Sunday at the Alumni Ice Arena on the campus of SUNY Cortland.

Registration is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Country Inn and Suites, 3707 state Route 271, Cortland.

Games at Greek Peek begin at 9 a.m. and will include tube racing, sled pull, hose relay and tug of war, organizers said. Firefighters will compete in turnout gear.

Broomball competition begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the ice rink.
