Firefighters convention in Alex Bay starts Aug. 16

The 139th annual Firemen’s Association of the State of New York Convention will be held from Aug. 16 through Aug. 19 at the Edgewood Resort & Conference Center, 22467 Edgewood Road.

The Ladies Auxiliary of FASNY will hold its meetings and activities at the nearby Riveredge Resort, 17 Holland St.

The four-day conference — which is expected to draw close to 2,000 volunteer firefighters, emergency medical service personnel and their families — will feature training education presentations, Youth Day activities and business sessions, according to a FASNY news release.

The convention also will include an awards ceremony for the Firefighter and EMS Provider of the Year and a memorial service.
