Fire vols can get tuition reimbursed
NEW YORK — The Firemen’s Association of the state of New York is now offering a college tuition reimbursement program for current or future volunteer firefighters who want to receive an associate’s or higher education degree.
Under the FASNY Higher Education Learning Plan, a student who is a volunteer firefighter who has not already achieved an associate’s degree or higher will be eligible to have up to 100 percent of their tuition reimbursed in exchange for maintaining good grades and fulfilling service requirements as a member in good standing in a volunteer fire company. The deadline to apply for tuition reimbursement for the fall 2011 semester is Oct. 1.
