FASNY Welcomes New Legislative Representatives
FASNY recently engaged the services of a new government affairs firm to serve as its legislative representatives in Albany. DKC Government Affairs (DKC GA) brings extensive experience in the capital to their new role with FASNY. Some of you may have met members of the DKC GA team at Convention in August or at this month’s Legislative Conference. For those who have not met the new team, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce them to our members and the fire service in general.
About DKC Government Affairs
Formed in 2009 and led by Allison Lee – who brings 25 years of highly-respected, bipartisan New York State-based government relations success to her position – the DKC Government Affairs executive team has more than 100 years of combined experience in local, city, state and federal government affairs. DKC GA provides government relations strategy and political counsel to Fortune 500 companies, real estate developers, not-for-profit organizations, health care providers and the telecommunications industry, among others.
Lee’s experience includes many years as the lead partner in one of Albany’s most successful lobbying firms. She also has had significant positions in journalism, major-market book publishing and not-for-profit and trade association administration. Her understanding of government functions at all levels coupled with years of direct experience in the media uniquely positions her to advance the complex legislative, public policy and public relations needs of her clients.
Lee’s government service includes having held key staff positions with the New York State Assembly and the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1998, she was appointed acting secretary’s representative for New York and New Jersey by then-U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary and current New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Lee is best known for her work in the telecommunications and high technology arenas, and is equally proficient with large corporate client interests as with small not-for-profit advocacy.
The DKC GA FASNY Team
The DKC GA team for FASNY is led by Deputy Director Paul Zuber along with Senior Vice President Andrew Marocco.
Paul Zuber brings the knowledge and unique insight of more than a decade’s worth of experience working both in key positions within the New York State Legislature and as a pivotal advocate for an Albany-based government affairs firm. Zuber has successfully represented such high-profile clients as Motorola, the New York Yankees, Lincoln Center, Wegmans Food Markets and the New York State Laborers. He earned a doctorate degree from the University of Maryland.
Zuber’s greatest strength is his combination of a results-oriented approach and applying his tremendous experience providing bipartisan New York State government relations. Zuber will be the primary point of contact for FASNY.
Andrew Marocco has been with DKC GA since its inception in 2009. He came to DKC with in-depth experience working both inside and outside state government, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of New York’s dynamic political landscape as well as critical institutional knowledge of the state Legislature. His position as regional coordinator for the New York State Assembly Majority and as legislative director at one of the state’s largest lobbying firms has exposed Marocco to issues spanning both the legislative and political spectrum. Additionally, Marocco has worked as a campaign advisor on several successful state Assembly races throughout New York.
Marocco works closely with all DKC GA clients to ensure a seamless interface between the legislative process and their specific interests, needs and strategic messaging as it affects New York State public policy. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Albany State University.
FASNY looks forward to working closely to advance its legislative agenda with the new team at DKC GA.
