Change Your Clocks & Check Your Batteries

It’s that time of the year again when we change our clocks. This time around, we will ‘spring ahead’.

Put those clocks ahead one hour Saturday night before you go to sleep as Daylight Savings Time kicks in at 2:00AM early Sunday morning. With this time change, our sunrise will be around 7:30AM with our sunset just past 7PM. Days continue to get longer up until the summer solstice which will be on June 20th this year.

It is also a good reminder to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors as well as your carbon monoxide detectors. According to the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY), this should be done at least once a year to make sure they are working properly. At least one smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector should be installed on every floor of your home, including the basement and sleeping areas.
