Awards Nominations Being Accepted by Firemen’s Association of the State of New York

(NEW YORK) – Each year, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) presents various awards for outstanding members of the volunteer fire and emergency medical services. FASNY wants to make sure volunteer fire departments across the state consider submitting applications on behalf of their members for these prestigious awards. All awards applications and related information can be found on www.fasny.com.

FASNY is currently accepting applications for the following awards:

Fire Service Community Achievement Award is presented to a person who is an outstanding member of a volunteer fire department. A successful candidate will possess many years of experience serving his or her volunteer fire department and community. This individual leads by example, by doing things, not by asking others to do it. As an active, long-time member of the department, this person shows total dedication to the volunteer fire service. In addition to being an outstanding volunteer within the fire department, the nominee will be a person active in his or her community. This individual finds time to volunteer with various community, religious or charitable organizations. Through the years, this person has been a helping hand to community activities and organizations in need of volunteers.

Fire Service Community Achievement Award applications must be postmarked by February 15, 2011.

Fire Safety Educator of the Year: FASNY presents an award to a volunteer firefighter in recognition of his or her exceptional efforts in presenting fire prevention and safety education to the residents of the State of New York. The award is presented annually to a New York State volunteer firefighter for his or her commitment in the field of fire prevention and life safety education. Presentation of the award will be made at a local ceremony.

Fire Safety Educator of the Year applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2011.

Teacher of the Year: FASNY has established this prestigious award to honor teachers in New York State for outstanding efforts in teaching fire and life safety education in their schools. The FASNY Fire Prevention and Life Safety Committee presents one award to a teacher at the elementary or secondary level, currently teaching in a public, private or parochial school in the state.

Teacher of the Year applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2011.

Firefighter of the Year: Many of the volunteer firefighters across New York State perform outstanding feats of heroism that should be recognized by FASNY. Officers should record the deed and send it to the Firefighter of the Year Committee for judging. The name of every applicant and his/her fire company will be recognized at the annual FASNY Convention. Firefighter of the Year applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2011.

EMS Provider of the Year: Many of the EMS providers across New York State perform outstanding feats of heroism that should be recognized by FASNY. EMS providers should record the deed and send it to the EMS Provider of the Year Committee for judging. The name of every nominee, along with the sponsoring member’s organization, will be recognized at the annual FASNY Convention.

EMS Provider of the Year applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2011.
