Assemblywoman Honored with Golden Trumpet Award

Hundreds of volunteer firefighters came together in Albany on Sunday to present Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther with the Golden Trumpet Award.

The Golden Trumpet award is given by the Fireman’s Association of the State of New York to an outstanding person who has shown support for the firefighting community.

The organization chose Gunther for her legislative work, especially pushing legislation for presumptive cancer care for firefighters.

“When I listened to the list of people who have earned it, so many great people.  So I’m with a great crowd and I’m really honored to have received it,” said Gunther.

Firefighters from across the state met over the weekend to discuss which topics are important for the next legislative session.
