You’re invited to celebrate all things FASNY during our 150th anniversary in 2022! Since 1872, FASNY has been dedicated to informing, educating and training the volunteer fire service in New York State. What started with conversation among a small group in Auburn, New York, has grown into one of the largest volunteer firefighting organizations in the country. This year, we recognize all our accomplishments over the last century and a half with a series of special events that you can be a part of.
Watch this video that tells the story of our rich history and get ready to celebrate!

Historical Marker Re-Dedication Ceremony in Auburn
Saturday October 1st, 2022
In the summer of 1872, a group of firefighters gathered in Auburn, New York, to parade and celebrate the fire service. During this celebration, conversations began about holding a Convention of firefighters from around the country. Little did anyone realize that this gathering would be the seed that would grow into the Firefighters Association of the State of New York. Join us as we recognize that time with a re-dedication of the historical marker in Auburn.

The FASNY 150th Series
in The Volunteer Firefighter Magazine
This series of reflections has been featured in The Volunteer Firefighter magazine leading up to FASNY’s 150th anniversary in August 2022.
A Past President Looks Back
Looking back on my term as President of the greatest fire organization ever known, I reflect on many fond memories. It is my belief that many Past Presidents hold the same fondness for this organization, and a sense of pride for being a part of it.
150 Years Young
On a clear summer day in 1872, firemen were congregating in Auburn, New York for a State Convention of a benevolent organization. After the convention ended, a number of firemen were passing in review before a group of local citizens. Somewhere along this route the idea to hold a convention of firemen, and to form a permanent national organization of firemen, was born.
