Past President Jacobowitz Attends West, Texas, Memorial Service
Immediate Past President David Jacobowitz paid respects on behalf of FASNY at an April 25 memorial service for those recently killed in a West, Texas, chemical plant blast. The April 17 explosion injured hundreds and killed 15, most of them fire and emergency personnel. Victims included firefighters from the West, Abbott, Merknel, Bruceville-Eddy departments in addition to a Dallas Fire Department captain who lived in the area. Jacobowitz, the New York state delegate for the National Volunteer Fire Council, traveled to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, for the memorial service that was also attended by President Barack Obama.
