A Message From FASNY PresidentJames A. Burns Regarding the Shooting
“New York State’s 90,000 volunteer firefighters are all in mourning today over the tragic events in West Webster. We lost two of our own to a senseless act of violence that also left two additional firefighters seriously wounded. Our thoughts and prayers are with all four of these firefighters and their families. It is especially heartbreaking to know that these dedicated volunteer firefighters and their comrades left the comforts of their own homes and families early this Christmas Eve morning to respond to a fire in their community and were met with gunfire. We will all be here for the West Webster Fire Department in the days to come as they deal with this tragedy.”
Calling hours for both West Webster Firefighters will be held at Webster Schroeder High School, 875 Ridge Road, Webster, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The funeral service for FF Chiapperini, also a 20-year veteran of the Webster Police Department, will be held at the high school at noon Sunday. He will be buried, with honors, in West Webster Cemetery.
The funeral Mass for FF Kaczowka, a Monroe County 911 dispatcher and 2011 Webster Thomas High School graduate, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus church,1124 Hudson Ave., Rochester. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
