The Essential Two:

2 NFPA Standards That Small Fire Departments Should Be Using

NVFC Director Joe Maruca outlines essential information to conduct firefighting and operations in a safe and effective manner during this full-day program from the National Volunteer Fire Council. Chief Maruca’s West Barnstable (Massachusetts) Fire Department responds to approximately 600-650 fire and EMS incidents per year and protects an area of approximately 13.5 square miles with a year-round population of approximately 3,500 citizens. It also protects the Cape Cod Community College Campus with a student population of 6,000. The class will show you how to adopt, use and not be scared of NFPA 1720 and NFPA 1500. NFPA 1720 is the Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Services and Special Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire Departments. NFPA 1500 is the Standard on Fire Department Occupation Safety, Health, and Wellness Program.
