This prestigious program opens the Annual Convention in an honorable way that remembers the Association’s deceased members that have provided service to their respective communities. Prayers, scriptures and song lead the way to the reading of their names, tolling of the bell and memorial candle ceremony for those who have answered their final alarm.

The service begins with the solemn processional of bagpipers before an invocation. Scripture readings are accompanied by musical performances and hymns.

The names of the deceased are read by county as a bell is tolled and candles are symbolically extinguished.

A benediction and recessional conclude the event and representatives of each county are invited to take their candle back to their organizations so that the memory of their fallen members lives on.

Firemen's Memorial Hymn

In fond remembrance, gathered here today, tribute to pay to comrades passed away. Garlands of flowers placed about our dead, spring’s brightest blossoms deck their quiet bed. When duty called, our comrades they would go, never daunted, met the fiery foe. May guardian angels o’er them vigil keep, while they lie resting in eternal peace. Father in mercy, guide us on our way, through storm and sunshine to eternal day. And when our duty here on earth shall cease, may we with them abide, in joy and peace.
